Sonja Srinivasan Parlays Essay Publication Into Podcast at World Literature Today
Oct 15, 2026

Sonja Srinivasan’s (’99TC) essay about her father’s grimy old suitcase she couldn’t bear to part with was accepted for publication by World Literature Today (WLT) and posted in March 2026.
While attending a CFF workshop, Srinivasan reconnected with a fellow former member of the Columbia Glee Club who introduced her to other CFF members who provided valuable feedback on the essay later published by WLT.
After her essay’s acceptance, Srinivasan pitched WLT a podcast to accompany the magazine. WLT agreed, and her podcast, released bimonthly in tandem with the print issue, debuted in January 2026. She is the podcast’s creator, host, editor, and producer, and she has released five episodes to date, which you can find on the WLT website, Spotify, and YouTube. It features interviews with the issue’s contributors, poetry readings, and featured book reviews.
Srinivasan is currently working on a new novel and revising another—a retelling of Anna Karenina set between New York City and Washington, DC, beginning in 1959. She’s also an opera singer and has plans for writing a libretto. Additionally, she enjoys working with clients on developmental editing of fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, short stories, and novellas—a busy writing life.
