The following writers were recognized at the 2025 Open House/Annual Meeting for their recent publications, fiction and non-fiction.




Norah Marler ('17TC, '18TC): released a new book, Stop Parenting Adult Children: Stop the Cycle of Blame and Take Your Life Back under the pen name Haron Marlee. For decades, self-help has encouraged adults to shame their parents, but this cycle only deepens dysfunction across generations. This book reframes healing by breaking the blame loop and offering a restorative path toward forgiveness, accountability, and connection. (Amazon link.)
Mauricio Matiz ('79SEAS, '84SEAS): his short story, "Foxhole Foxhole," was published in Latino Book Review Magazine 2025. The 80+-page print-only publication includes poetry, short stories, memoirs, essays, and visual arts. Leading off the fiction section, "Foxhole Foxhole" is an allegorical war story of youth where nothing is rational. This is his first fiction publication.
Michael Vines ('73GSAS) short story, "Last Words," was published in The Jewish Fiction Journal in September 2025. The story is a coda to his novel Harry Gets Wise, which he workshopped with CFF, and was honored at the 2024 St. Louis Jewish Book Festival last November.
John F Wirenius ('90LAW) has a new book coming out in March 2026, Montague Summers, Occultist: A Study of the Writings on Witches, Vampires and Werewolves(McFarland & Company). The 2,072-page book is a biography and critical study of the Rev. Montague Summers. (Bookshop.org link.)
