Hellfighter is a contemporary historical fiction novel that explores and shows the tension in the US at the end of WWI when the soldiers returned home, resulting in Red Summer. The protagonist, Piccolo Tintton, fought with the 369th Infantry unit of the 93rd (Harlem Hellfighters) and he returns home after the war to deliver the letters he wrote to his mother, knowing that his soldier's bearing may upset the careful balance maintained in Elaine, Arkansas.
